Workshop update..

In September 2021, Remnants of Hurricane Ida grazed over New Jersey and forcibly felled an enormous 100yr old Red Oak from a neighbors back yard. It was so big that it took out 2 detached, double garages, 3 other smaller trees and a fence. Large limbs of the tree stabbed into the ground and sunk up to 2 feet. My workshop was splatted by the bulk of the upper branches. I was not even remotely ‘secretly’ OVERJOYED at this outcome as the existing garage was a cookie-cutter 2”x4” A frame built around 1927 with vinyl siding and a crunchy double garage door that was a BEAST to lift. The concrete floor looked as though several M1 Abrams Tanks had used it to test their ability to drive over things. 13 months later after drawing up numerous plans, getting approvals, permits, inspections, buying lumber, building frames, buying more lumber, sheathing, sealing, insulating, roofing, then electrifying and siding! I just about have a new workshop.

Globular - A continuing series

Globular 4 is really coming along nicely. And just got accepted into a juried show! October 19 - December 10 in Livingston at the JSDD.

The WAE Open - 2023

Globular 5 is enormous. I can absolutely attest to this one herniating one of my discs when I tried moving it around the garden. This one had to sit outside for about 9 months before I could get it back in a climate controlled environment and start revealing the inner glob.

Globular 4 detail. Some areas are about 4 stages behind this bit but I have to vary my tool usage to prevent fatigue and I am COMPELLED sometimes to get to this stage when certain shapes reveal themselves.

Globular 4 WIP. Not nearly enough globby bits.

Globular 4 will be a floor standing feature with an embedded light fitting. Here I am shaping with my 80grit sanding bit.

Globular 2 became a light fixture. A Philips Hue Edison Bulb and 3 color Hue lights so I can change the mood.

Saki-Box Chandelier

Sourced from a Hotel in QLD’s Surfers Paradise that was throwing them out, these boxes were cut in half and glued/screwed together. This hangs over our dining table. 3 sources of light (Philips Hue) highlight the wooden boxes in various color schemes and the base (?) has a concealed RGB rope light.

Octagonal Cedar Picnic Table with Lazy Susan

80” Diameter table for a lifetime of family memories. Had to make a second lazy Susan as the first was way too small to reach on this huge table!!
